Using and maintaining OpenClaw

Follow the OpenClaw tutorials in installation, browser, troubleshooting, and removal order.

These four articles follow a local installation through its lifecycle: check installation requirements, choose a browser connection mode, troubleshoot failures, then learn about removal and cleanup.

  1. Installation and configuration: check Node.js and package-manager versions, run onboarding, and verify the Gateway.

  2. Browser connection modes: distinguish the managed browser, Chrome DevTools MCP, and Chrome extension.

  3. Troubleshooting: distinguish runtime, Gateway, model, and browser failures.

  4. Removal and cleanup: preview removal scopes and handle the service, state, workspace, and CLI separately.

Use the JSON tool to practice with ordinary JSON examples, or Text Diff to compare two sample configurations. Full OpenClaw configurations may use JSON5; the JSON tool does not replace OpenClaw’s own diagnostics.
